A conversation with Governor Howard Dean about how Ukrainians should advocate to get the needed support from the US and the EU, from air defense to EU oil embargo on Russia

Dear Professional Government Association of Ukraine and Harvard Club of Ukraine members, Join us in a conversation with Governor Howard Dean about how Ukrainians should advocate to get the needed support from the US and the EU, from air defense to EU oil embargo on Russia. What are Biden’s red lines on Ukraine? What messages does he deem important? What policies the Democratic administration is likely to support and how to advocate for them?

If there is someone who could answer these questions, it is Howard Dean, a former Democratic politician with 30 years of experience in policymaking and foreign policy. As a former chairman of Democratic Party’s governing body, Democratic National Committee, Presidential Candidate, and six-term Governor of Vermont, Governor Dean understands every detail of the Democratic policymaking process. He currently leads democracy promotion in Ukraine and other Eastern European states as the Board Member of the National Democratic Institutes and teaches foreign policy to Yale students as a Senior Fellow at Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.

Register to the conversation with Governor Dean to learn how to advocate for Ukraine more effectively via https://bit.ly/3CU1W58.

The event is organized by Ukraine Global Scholars and Professional Government Association of Ukraine

WHAT YOU PERSONALLY CAN DO TO SUPPORT UKRAINE

Dear Student or Alumni! HERE IS WHAT YOU PERSONALLY CAN DO TO SUPPORT UKRAINE! We have prepared a statement requesting a recognition of russian shameful invasion that you can send to your university leadership teams: we recommend reaching your Deans and Admission Heads. Public outreach by academia will bring this issue to the attention of valuable stakeholders. Since many professors serve as advisors to governments, this will put pressure on politicians to support Ukraine directly!

Please see the email statement for that you should use in your message https://docs.google.com/…/15VS-M05Po0-Cm…/edit…. Please feel free to add your name and your degree details in signature section in order to make this statement more impactful. We would also ask you to Cc PGA official email proukrgov.ua@gmail.com in your correspondence.

We are asking for three things: to release an official community and media statements supporting Ukraine and condemning Russian unjustified and brutal invasion; to divest from Russian funds and projects that directly or indirectly benefit the Russian army, and to financially support Ukrainian students in times of hardship.

Recommended actions:
1. Copy the email from the document and send it to your University Leadership teams, Salvic Departments, professors, student Organisations etc.
2. Get feed-back from your University and make this information public (through FB, impact groups like us…). YOU ARE THE HERO! If you have support of some professors or departments, it will be easier to convince the leadership team!
3. Ask you University for more actions! If your university teams agree to at least one ask, this is already a great WIN! However, the more actions, the better!

Once you sent the email, please mark your progress in the google document attached. Include your school name, your email address, and the status. If any actions were taken, please update the tracking sheet in the necessary column.

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes! Слава Україні! Героям Слава!
